Blue Cross of Jamaica recently launched its highly anticipated Schools Wellness Clubs Essay and Poster Competitions with the theme “Promoting Wellness in our Community”. This topic is very important to Blue Cross, as health and wellness are subjects that Jamaica’s youth needs to focus on in order to have a prosperous future.
The competition is open to all full-time students of Primary, All Age, Preparatory, Secondary and High Schools island-wide ranging from 7-16 years. For the poster competition, each poster must be 11”x 17” in size and may be done in colour crayons, water and acrylic paint or colour markers. Regarding the essay competition, the essay should be no longer than 200 words, clearly written in own handwriting in pen, on ruled paper. Both competitions will be judged on the originality of ideas. The Essay competition will be judged on content and grammar, while the poster competition will be judged on the use of colour and depiction of theme. The deadline for all entries is June 15, 2004.
The first prizewinners in both competitions will receive School Wellness Awards and Scholarships. There are also special gifts for the schools submitting the most entries and the schools with the winning poster and essay entries will receive a School Wellness Trophy.
